Communications Manager: Full-time

POSITION/JOB SUMMARY:

The Communications Manager is responsible for leading Johnson Memorial Health Services’ (JMHS) communications, media presence, and brand messaging across all internal and external platforms.

This role oversees the organization’s website, social media channels, written communications, digital campaigns, and media relations to increase community awareness, strengthen the JMHS brand, and support organizational growth.

The position works collaboratively with the Graphic Design & Community Engagement Manager to align messaging, visual content, and marketing initiatives with JMHS priorities.

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), exempt position. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday; however, occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to support JMHS events, meetings, or educational opportunities


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Digital Media & Website Oversight

  • Lead day-to-day oversight of the JMHS website, including content updates, page optimization, service line promotion, and user experience improvements.
  • Develop and manage digital communication plans to support service lines, programs, and organizational priorities.
  • Manage all JMHS social media platforms, including content planning, post scheduling, publishing, monitoring, and engagement.
  • Track and report key communication and marketing performance indicators, including website traffic, social media engagement, campaign effectiveness, media reach, and employee communication metrics.
  • Identify emerging digital trends and recommend opportunities for increased visibility and engagement. 

Communications & Content Development

  • Develop and maintain content for:
    • Website updates
    • Press releases
    • Newsletters
    • Patient/community announcements
    • Service line promotions
    • Internal communications
  • Lead development and coordination of employee communications, including internal newsletters, employee announcements, recognition communications, and intranet/HUB content
  • Ensure messaging is clear, consistent, timely, and aligned with JMHS brand standards.
  • Assist leadership with executive messaging and key organizational communications.
  • Support crisis communication planning and response as needed. 

Media Relations & Public Visibility

  • Build and maintain relationships with local and regional media outlets.
  • Coordinate media interviews, press opportunities, and public announcements.
  • Draft and distribute media advisories and press releases.

Brand Stewardship & Campaign Leadership

  • Help maintain and enforce JMHS brand standards across all platforms.
  • Collaborate with others on digital campaign planning and execution.
  • Support service line growth initiatives through targeted communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Graphic Design & Community Engagement Manager to ensure digital and visual content align with campaign goals. 

Collaboration & Organizational Support

  • Work collaboratively with leaders across JMHS departments to identify communication needs and opportunities.
  • Participate in planning meetings related to community engagement, campaigns, and brand initiatives.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, advertising partners, and digital consultants as needed.
  • This position is designed to complement and partner with the Graphic Design & Community Engagement Manager. Specific responsibilities related to community engagement, events, outreach initiatives, digital media, communications, and marketing activities may be adjusted based on organizational needs.

    • Completes requirements for in-service and annual training, acceptable attendance, uniform dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education/Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, Business, or related field preferred.
    • 3+ years of experience in communications, digital media, content management, public relations, or related field.
    • Experience managing websites, social media platforms, and digital content strategy.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Adobe Suite proficiency.
    • Strong written, editing, and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong project management and organizational skills.
