RN - Hospital Acute Care: 72 hrs/pay period

POSITION/JOB SUMMARY:

  • The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care in a rural, critical access setting. The RN will work within an interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care for patients across the lifespan. This position requires strong clinical skills, the ability to handle a variety of patient conditions, and the flexibility to work in a fast-paced, resource-limited environment typical of a critical access hospital.

Shift Differentials:

Night: $3.50/hr
Weekend: $2.50/hr

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Patient Care:
    • Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and injections as directed by healthcare providers.
    • Monitor patient vital signs, assess conditions, and report changes to the provider.
    • Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding.
    • Provide wound care, dressing changes, catheter care, intravenous monitoring, and other basic medical treatments.
    • Collect specimens for lab tests and perform basic lab testing as needed.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Communicate patient concerns and progress to the healthcare team to ensure appropriate care.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care strategies.
    • Responsible for keeping an open, professional line of communication for good working relationships with facility staff.
  • Critical Care:
    • Respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations, utilizing critical thinking skills and nursing protocols.
  • Administrative and Clinical Support:
    • Ensure that all patient charts, records, and documentation are accurate and complete.
    • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality following hospital policies and HIPAA regulations.
    • Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
    • Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies necessary for patient care.
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Quality Improvement & Compliance:
    • Attends a minimum of 75% of nursing staff meetings.
    • Assist with audits and reporting to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

    • Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.
    • Confidentiality of all data, including patient, resident, employee, and operations data.
    • Quality assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
    • Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from any sort of harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.
  • Supports and participates in common teamwork:
    • Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction including appropriate judgment.
    • Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
    • Follow up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers, patients, or residents regarding reported complaints, problems, and/or concerns.
    • Promotes positive public relations with patients, residents, family members and guests.
    • Completes requirements for in-service and annual training, acceptable attendance, uniform dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in nursing or a closely related field. Must possess at least one of the following: full and unrestricted license to practice professional nursing in the State of Minnesota, evidence of NCLEX-RN exam pass, OR CGFNS (aka TruMerit) Certification.
