Behavioral Health Licensed Therapist

POSITION/JOB SUMMARY:

  • The Behavioral Health Therapist provides mental health assessment, diagnosis, and therapy services for patients across the lifespan. This position delivers evidence-based therapeutic interventions, supports integrated behavioral health workflows within the clinic setting, and collaborates with medical and nursing staff to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. The therapist plays a key role in improving behavioral health access for the community and supporting the overall mission of Johnson Memorial Health Services.

The Behavioral Health Therapist will have the option of being scheduled 64-80 hours per pay period (.8-1.0 FTE) Monday-Friday and is a salaried/exempt position. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
  • Provide individual, family, and/or group therapy within scope of practice.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Collaborate with Behavioral Health providers, primary care clinicians, nursing, and support staff to coordinate care.
  • Participate in integrated care strategies, including warm hand-offs and care coordination with medical providers.
  • Provide crisis intervention and safety planning as needed.
  • Refer patients to higher levels of care, community resources, or specialty services when appropriate.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews, staff meetings, and quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and organizational policies and regulations.
  • Engage in continuing education to maintain licensure and stay current on best practices.
  • Contribute to behavioral health program development, outreach activities, and community education when requested.
  • Help others succeed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    • Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.
    • Confidentiality of all data, including patient, resident, employee, and operations data.
    • Quality assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
    • Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from any sort of harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.
  • Supports and participates in common teamwork:
    • Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction including appropriate judgment.
    • Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
    • Follow up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers, patients, or residents regarding reported complaints, problems, and/or concerns.
    • Promotes positive public relations with patients, residents, family members and guests.
    • Completes requirements for in-service and annual training, acceptable attendance, uniform dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field.
  • Current Minnesota licensure, or eligibility for Minnesota licensure as one of the following:
    • LICSW – Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, or
    • LPCC – Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or
    • LMFT – Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
  • Ability to diagnose and treat mental health disorders within an independent scope of practice.
